Thomas Prowse, an Ottawa based technology lawyer, launched the prowse technology law office in February 2012 and wrapped up its operation in September 2015 to take his latest in-house counsel role!
Prior to the prowse technology law office, Thomas was Intellectual Property Counsel with GENBAND, a global leader of Internet Protocol infrastructure and service solutions focused on the evolution of communications networks. Before joining GENBAND in 2010, he was a partner with Gowlings in its Kanata office where his practice focused on providing legal advice in the areas of technology law and technology-related commercial matters.
Prior to re-joining Gowlings in 2007, Thomas was Senior Counsel with Nortel where he provided legal support to product development organizations. He worked extensively on a wide range of technology law and technology-related commercial matters during his 13 year tenure at Nortel and was the Global Law Department leader in Open Source Software matters.
Thomas was selected by his peers to be included in the 2010 and 2011 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the Technology Law specialty. His in-house counsel, private practice, and government policy experience equip him to provide practical, timely, and concise legal advice grounded in his understanding of the business and technological challenges faced by companies today.
Thomas is also the President and Founder of n2one inc., a startup focused on leveraging the “commons sourcing” business model to transform the delivery of Open Source Software legal information and other professional information and services.
